My parents used to watch Lawrence Welk all the time, so it’s likely that they saw this when it first aired in 1971. If so, I’m sure they were just as clueless as to the meaning of the word “toke” as Gail and Dale appear to be. What floors me is that apparently no one connected with the show knew what the word meant, or took the time to look it up in the dictionary (yes, there were dictionaries in 1971).
